The budget proposes to merge all the state-owned oil companies to create a giant oil company. This would help expand our presence in the global market, and also to meet the increasing domestic oil demand. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) will be abolished. The govt. feels that the Board has already lived out its life, and is no longer required as most approvals are through automatic root. This will also help speeding up the processes. It is proposed to set up a strategic policy for crude reserves. Trade infra exports scheme would be launched during 2017-18. The budget proposes to form a Computer emergency response team for the financial sector. A revised mechanism for ensuring time-bound listing of CPSEs would be formed.

 The Pradhan  Mantri Mudra Yojana lending target for 2017-18 has been fixed at Rs. 2.44 lakh crore. To boost growth and job creation in the labour-intensive leather industry, a scheme similar to the one provided for the textile sector has been announced in the budget. Experts say that the leather industry has the potential of providing 250 jobs with an investment of every Rs. 1 crore. This will help the leather and footwear industry as well as create more job opportunities. An important feature of the budget is that though there may not be many direct benefit announcements for the manufacturing sector, the thrust on infrastructure development of roads and railways would benefit the manufacturing sector. The total allocation for infra sector is Rs. 3.96 trillion.  (1 trillion = 1 lac crore). The allocation for the Bharat Net programme has been kept at Rs.10,000 crore.
