With the unfolding of the Trump era, the old order seems to be disrupting almost everywhere. However, this is truer about Islam than about any other religion. Every religion has an element of radicalism, but it seems to be more prominent in Islam as compared to any other religion. The followers of Islam seem to be vastly divided over the path that they want to follow. It may, thus be construed that the current negativity against Muslims is on account of the development differential between the Western world and the core centre of Islam. There is a vast sectarian divide within the religion, leading each section towards more and more conservatism and radicalism. Education, which is the core component of modernization and development, and the lack of this important component, is yet another problem with the followers of Islam. As compared to Muslims around the world, Muslims in India are much better placed, enjoying all the benefits, with a few extra ones, of democracy, development, education and above all a generally subsuming Hindu society that allows peaceful co-existence of all faiths. It is an opportunity for Indian Muslims to project this to the rest of the Muslim world, and also to try and change the minds of those in India, who are lured by the rising Muslim extremist sentiment.
