  1. Sports not a priority in India : Sports in India have remained a least priority subject all these years. All other sports and sport persons, with the only exception of cricket, have not received the recognition they deserve.
  2. Least brings the most! Sports like tennis and badminton are possibly the least viewed sports in this country, although these are the sports which have brought international glory to India.
  3. A new star rises : P.V. Sindhu, a name which hardly anyone knew before she created history by winning the Olympic silver medal, was not even considered any match to ace shuttler Saina Nehwal, who was India’s main hope to win an Olympic medal in badminton.
  4. Indian Open Super Series 2017 : Sindhu defeated Carolina Marin of Spain to clinch the Indian Open Super Series on 02-April. Marin is the same player who defeated Sindhu in the Olympics final. But Sindhu came back strongly to win both the matches the two players played thereafter.
  5. International rankings : With this win, Sindhu becomes the World No. 2 in the international badminton rankings, pushing Carolina Marin to the number 3 spot. In all, the two players have played against each other ten times and are now tied at 5 victories each.
  6. Sindhu and Saina : Today, P.V. Sindhu has become the poster girl in Indian badminton, outplaying  Saina Nehwal. In her six-year badminton career, Sindhu has bagged two super series titles (China and Indian Open), two bronze medals at the Worlds and an Olympic silver medal.
  7. A good coach makes a big difference : Ever since her introduction to the Indian team for the 2010 Uber Cup, Sindhu’s graph has only gone higher. According to her coach Pulela Gopichand, Sindhu’s game at present is at its best. Accused of throwing away matches from a winning position earlier, Sindhu has made a lot of improvement in her temperament.
