A poor country faces many problems. Citizens don’t know how to break free from poverty, and make choices accordingly. When they do become rich, a new set of problems emerge born of indulgences. Today’s India is an India of flux. Everyone wants to leave this nation, settle someplace else. Was it like this always? No. Five centuries ago, all Europeans wanted to come here. They did. [And looted us] Today it is the reverse. Our day-to-day conduct as human beings, as disciplined citizens, as compassionate people (towards fellow beings) will make or break our image. No one else will do it for us. This is what culture is – either we are cultured, or we are not. Economic progress is happening. That is a certainty. How far it goes, how far it takes us, how deep it penetrates into our villages – all that is the variable uncertainty. But it will happen. The Americans in 1930s experienced the great depression – even food was a luxury for common people. Then the second world war killed crores in Europe. Then in 1960s they became rich, and then collapsed in drugs and alcohol. Then they stood up again. They built a great nation. Watch man`y video analyses on world politics, here. India should try and avoid that negative fate. We must make things happen positively. Affluence has to be welcomed positively, and not used to “lose our heads”! Poverty is bad, but affluence can be worse! We do not need to scream and shout. We need to make the society change slowly, at our own level. Silently. That is exactly what spiritual awareness will be – even the rich won’t lose their heads. Then and only then, will religion, spirituality and economy work in tandem for a happier Indian society.
